Religious Fanatics

Do you believe in God? I wanted to know since some of your sites seemed erm, you know…and I wanted to let you know Jesus loves you and if you dont believe in God I want you to go to heaven!

I must admit that I’m mildly amused and perhaps, also mildly offended. I never saw any of my sites as seeming “erm, you know…,” whatever that means. Some of my designs are admittedly a bit dark or edgy, but I’ve never made anything particularly offensive, in my opinion. Either way, webdesign is only a hobby, and those that find my work offensive undoubtedly have the option not to visit my sites.
To be honest, I never understood religion. I’m technically a Chinese immigrant (though very much assimilated), and really, questions of faith were never raised in my household. As such, I was never conditioned to believe in any such thing as “God,” and nothing has ever convinced me to since then. On a good day, I consider myself agnostic; on a day like today, when I want to distance myself as much these religious fanatics as possible, I’m happy to accept the title of “raving atheist.” Irrationality knows no bounds.

Ugh, people like that are awful. It’s like they can’t think for themselves because they’re too busy praising God.

I’m a Methodist, but I don’t push my beliefs on others. I’m more of the scientific kinda Christian, like I don’t really believe you literally burn in Hell. I read the bible kind of like how I’d read a poem – it’s all metaphors. Some people just take it waaaaaaay to seriously.
I can’t stand religious freaks. If God is going to punish someone for not going to church every Sunday or praying every night, then he’s not as amazing as everyone says he is. I dunno, I try to do good things in life so karma won’t whoop me in the ass, and if God does exist, I won’t go to Hell and suffer with despair for not being with him (since that’s what Hell really is).
I don’t see how being an atheist shows in your web design, though, lmfao. At least she doesn’t want you to go to Hell, I guess. XD

@Trish: The point is that religion is a personal thing. I don’t really care what people believe as long as they keep it to themselves and don’t let it cloud their better judgment. What really pisses me off is when people try to tell me what I should believe and how I should live my life. I’m an intelligent person, and I can decide for myself.

My opinion:
If the Christian hell exists for the non-Christian soul, its definitely the place to be. If limbo (Dante’s Inferno style) exists, it wouldn’t be that bad (no crazy torture or anything, and no serious sinners around either) and who doesn’t want to be able to chat it up with Einstein, the Buddha, Socrates, Aristotle et al. for eternity.
All I’m saying is even if I did believe in an afterlife (don’t), that sounds a hell of a lot better than getting through the Pearly Gates, and having to deal with a much more obnoxious, homogeneous group for eternity. And shit, not like my Jew family would be up there anyway – lonely!
Conclusion:
Basking in the glory of god: overrated.

o.o I know what you mean… I would be offended by a message like that ._. I also don’t have a religion, basically because there are things I accept and others I do not -.-” Designing is just a way on how to express your emotions or the way you see things, that’s the way I see it (tho i might be wrong) either way I agree no one should push their believes on others, and if she thinks like that I say she should have kept it to herself, but then again its just the way a person takes it, for all I know she had good intentions? Who knows, lets just keep it as in a pushing aspect XD
