Why is it so hard to credit?

I’ve recently introduced a LiveJournal layout at Crazed System, called Red Sunset, featuring Tero of Vidoll. It’s my first S2 layout, and I’m actually quite proud of it. The flaw of releasing S2 layouts for other people to use, however, is that I can’t precode a credit link into the layout before sending the layout off to the people that want to use it, since I can only edit the CSS. As a result, users have to add the credit link themselves. Now, despite the fact that I’ve included instructions on how to credit on both the Readme file that comes with each of my layouts and the layout entry itself, only one user has posted proper credits so far. These people never bothered to credit at all. This person at least had the decency to credit me in his/her userinfo. This is the only person that actually put the credits in his/her sidebar, as I instructed. Why is it so hard to follow directions? In fact, even if they didn’t bother read through everything (which is understandable), what would make anyone think that it was okay not to credit someone for making their layouts?
It’s a good thing that I watermarked my layout footer before distributing it. This is seriously making me question whether or not I should post more S2 layouts. They’re much more flexible, powerful, and intuitive than S1 layouts, but… what’s the point if no one’s going to acknowledge that I made them?

I know this is extremely late for a comment…I’m too lazy to always read the instructions, but I at least credit. That is pretty rude not to. Especially considering the work involved. I don’t know how to make layouts and such, but I know it takes work.
P.S. I think I’m turning into a fan of yours…So don’t be surprised if I get excited when you post anything new. XD *Sees you take a step back for safety* …What? >.

Ugh. That is terrible. :( I hate stealers and non-creditors, too. You work hard on something and the least people can do is show some gratitude. *shakes head*

I’ve already told you that I adore that layout.
And I just read your last entry about that Gaia chick. The girl should be held at gunpoint and be shot multiple times. Once for her lack of basic respect and twice for her stupidity.
You’re too nice.
